Anna Schmitz is an in-house attorney at the Los Angeles 2024 Exploratory Committee, a private non-profit organization working to bring the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games to Los Angeles. Prior to joining LA 2024, Schmitz worked as a Policy Associate at the Climate Action Reserve on the Compliance Offset Program of California’s Cap and Trade Program, as well as on offset protocol policies and verification for the voluntary market. Schmitz spent a year in Germany on a Robert Bosch Foundation Fellowship, working on international climate and energy technology policy at the Federal Ministry for Economics and Technology (BMWi) and on climate finance policy at Allianz Climate Solutions, GmbH. She earned her JD at the University of Virginia, School of Law with a focus on regulatory and environmental law. Before studying law she worked at the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) as a Policy Analyst, where her research contributed to the successful launch and implementation of the Major Economies process. She completed her undergraduate studies in Culture and Politics at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service. She is a member of the State Bar of California.
