Hildigunnur Thorsteinsson is the Managing Director of Research and Development at Reykjavik Energy. In her role, she oversees natural resource management and research as well as technology development for the company. Prior to joining Reykjavik Energy, Mrs. Thorsteinsson led the Hydrothermal and Resource Confirmation team as the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy’s Geothermal Technologies Office at the US Department of Energy. There she managed an extensive portfolio of R&D grants, led technical roadmapping and budget formulation. Mrs. Thorsteinsson has also worked for geothermal developers both in the United States and Iceland. Mrs. Thorsteinsson received a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of Iceland in 2005, and a Master of Science in Technology and Policy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2008.
