Aki Kachi is a project manager at Adelphi, an environmental consultancy in Berlin. His work concentrates on policy analysis and capacity building in climate and energy policy with a focus on carbon markets and climate finance. His current activities include supporting the Secretariat of the International Carbon Action Partnership (ICAP), a government network working to share experience on establishing and developing emissions trading systems. He further follows and analyses climate finance developments, domestic market-related climate policy tools, and works to identify capacity needs for climate change mitigation and adaptation measures in selected developing countries. A native of North America, Aki is an expert on North American climate policy, particularly with regard to market based approaches, and has previously researched and advised on climate and energy topics in the US and Japan. He holds an MA in international relations with concentrations in international economics and energy policy from the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) at Johns Hopkins University and bachelor degrees in political science and French from the University of Utah.
