Analyst and Project Manager

Katherine Stainken is currently an Analyst and Project Manager with the international consulting company Energeia, focused on the California and Western U.S. electric markets and ways to increase the levels of distributed energy resources in these states. She previously worked as a Director of Government Affairs at the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) based in Washington, D.C. Katherine led the solar industry’s response to the EPA’s Clean Power Plan, led policy efforts in the southeast U.S., managed the Solar Heating and Cooling Alliance (SHCA) and led the U.S. solar industry participation at COP 15 and COP16. She also assisted with the Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) initiatives at SEIA. Before this, Katherine was an Environment and Global Dialogue Program Assistant at the Heinrich Boell Stiftung in Washington, DC. Katherine spent 2 years in Germany on a Fulbright Scholarship, and 5 months in Switzerland on a ThinkSwiss Scholarship. She earned her Bachelor’s in chemistry and German from Boston College, and her Master’s in Global Environmental Policy from American University.
