This talk explores the nexus between sustainability and careers. Marilyn elucidates concepts pertinent to professionals with energy and environment backgrounds and/or working in this field. Using the SURF Framework that Marilyn developed and professional narratives specific to the energy and environment sectors, attendees will leave with a better understanding of how they can incorporate sustainability into their job tasks and career trajectory, as well as the benefits of doing so.
About Marilyn:
Marilyn Waite’s vision is a world where sustainability values of social cohesion, environmental consciousness, intergenerational equity, and economic health drive decision-making and business practices. An engineer and author of Sustainability at Work, she has addressed audiences worldwide on sustainability in careers, textiles, water, and energy. Marilyn holds a Master’s Degree with distinction in Engineering for Sustainable Development from the University of Cambridge and a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering (magna cum laude) from Princeton University. Marilyn is a founding member of ELEEP, leads the energy practice at Village Capital, serves on the Board of Directors for Engineers for a Sustainable World and is a Senior Research Fellow at Paul Hawken’s Project Drawdown.
